The Message From Tomorrow
THE LAST MESSAGE · August 13, 2026
The first message arrived at 3:03 a.m.
Emma Carter was used to strange things.
Working as a night journalist meant receiving anonymous tips, disturbing photographs, and calls from people who were afraid to reveal their names.
But this message was different.
Because it came from her own phone number.
Emma woke up when her phone vibrated on the bedside table.
The room was completely dark.
Rain hit the window.
The city outside was silent.
She reached for her phone and looked at the screen.
NEW MESSAGE
FROM: EMMA CARTER
She frowned.
“That’s impossible.”
Her fingers became cold.
She opened the message.
Only one sentence was written.
DON’T GO TO THE OLD STATION AT 6:00 A.M.
Emma stared at the screen.
She checked the sender again.
Her own number.
She laughed nervously.
“Someone is playing a game.”
She immediately tried calling the number.
Her phone rang.
Once.
Twice.
Then the call connected.
But there was no voice.
Only silence.
“Hello?”
Nothing.
Emma looked at the time.
3:04 a.m.
She ended the call.
Then another message arrived.
This time it was a picture.
Her heart stopped.
The picture showed her sleeping.
Taken from inside her bedroom.
Emma slowly looked around.
The room was empty.
She jumped out of bed.
Someone had been inside.
Or someone was still there.
She turned on every light.
Checked the bathroom.
The kitchen.
The balcony.
Nothing.
Her apartment door was locked.
The windows were closed.
But the photograph was real.
Someone had taken it.
She looked at the message again.
A second sentence appeared beneath the picture.
YOU HAVE 3 HOURS TO BELIEVE ME.
Emma stepped away from the phone.
She had spent years investigating crimes.
She knew one thing.
The most dangerous person was not the one who threatened you.
It was the one who knew everything about you.
At 5:45 a.m., Emma stood outside the Old Harbor Station.
She hated herself for coming.
The message told her not to come.
Every logical part of her brain told her it was a trap.
But journalists survived because they followed impossible stories.
The station had been abandoned for fifteen years.
A fire had destroyed part of the building.
The government closed it after several workers disappeared.
Officially, it was an accident.
Unofficially, nobody knew what happened.
Emma entered through a broken door.
Dust covered the floor.
Old posters hung on the walls.
The clocks had stopped at the same time.
6:00.
Exactly.
Her phone vibrated.
Another message.
YOU CAME.
Emma looked around.
“Who are you?”
A reply appeared.
THE PERSON TRYING TO SAVE YOU.
Emma typed:
Why send messages from my number?
The answer came immediately.
BECAUSE YOU WOULD ONLY LISTEN TO YOURSELF.
Emma felt a chill.
She walked deeper into the station.
At the end of the hallway was an old ticket office.
The door was open.
Inside was a table.
On the table was a folder.
Her name was written on it.
EMMA CARTER
She opened it.
Inside were newspaper articles.
Photos.
Reports.
Everything about her life.
Her childhood.
Her career.
Her investigations.
Then she saw something that made her stop breathing.
A photograph of herself standing beside a dead body.
The date was ten years earlier.
Emma dropped the picture.
“No…”
She remembered that day.
She was seventeen.
Her best friend Lily had disappeared.
The police found Lily’s body three days later.
Emma was the one who discovered it.
But the photograph showed something impossible.
Emma wasn’t alone.
Someone was standing behind her.
A man wearing a black coat.
His face was hidden.
Emma turned the page.
A name was written.
JONATHAN VALE
She knew that name.
Everyone did.
Jonathan Vale was a famous detective.
A hero.
A man who solved hundreds of cases.
A man who had disappeared five years ago.
Emma’s phone rang.
This time, she answered immediately.
A voice spoke.
Her voice.
Older.
Tired.
Terrified.
“Emma, listen carefully.”
Emma froze.
“Who are you?”
“I don’t have much time.”
“Why do you sound like me?”
The voice became quieter.
“Because I am you.”
Emma closed her eyes.
“This isn’t funny.”
“I know what happened at the station.”
“What?”
“You’re going to find Lily.”
Emma’s breathing stopped.
Nobody knew Lily’s name except her.
“What are you talking about?”
The voice continued.
“You think Lily was murdered.”
“She was.”
“No.”
Emma gripped the phone.
“What?”
“She wasn’t killed.”
A pause.
“She was protected.”
“Protected from who?”
The answer came.
“From you.”
The call ended.
Emma stood frozen.
The lights inside the station suddenly went out.
Darkness covered everything.
Then footsteps echoed.
Someone was walking toward her.
Slowly.
Calmly.
Emma reached into her bag and grabbed a small camera.
“Who’s there?”
No answer.
The footsteps continued.
Closer.
Closer.
A figure appeared at the end of the hallway.
A man.
Black coat.
Hidden face.
Exactly like the photograph.
Emma whispered:
“Jonathan Vale?”
The man stopped.
Then removed his hood.
Emma recognized him.
It was impossible.
Because Jonathan Vale had been missing for five years.
And he looked exactly the same.
He smiled.
“Hello, Emma.”
She stepped backward.
“You’re dead.”
Jonathan smiled.
“That is what everyone believes.”
“Where have you been?”
He looked around the abandoned station.
“Waiting.”
“For what?”
He looked directly at her.
“For you to remember.”
Emma shook her head.
“I don’t know you.”
Jonathan walked closer.
“Yes, you do.”
“No.”
“You just don’t remember.”
The station lights flickered.
Jonathan handed her an old photograph.
Emma looked at it.
Her hands started shaking.
It showed her.
Jonathan.
And Lily.
Together.
Standing outside the Old Harbor Station.
But the date was impossible.
The photograph was taken after Lily’s death.
Emma looked at Jonathan.
“What is this?”
Jonathan’s expression became serious.
“The truth.”
“What truth?”
He whispered:
“You didn’t discover Lily’s body.”
Silence.
“You created the story that she died.”
Emma’s eyes widened.
“No.”
Jonathan continued:
“Because someone erased your memories.”
“Who?”
He looked toward the darkness behind her.
“The same person who is sending you messages.”
Emma turned.
Nobody was there.
Her phone vibrated again.
A new message appeared.
This time, only three words.
DON’T TRUST HIM.
Emma looked at Jonathan.
Then at the message.
Her heart raced.
Two people were claiming they wanted to save her.
One was a mysterious voice from the future.
The other was a missing detective who should be dead.
And both knew secrets about her that she didn’t remember.
Another message arrived.
EMMA, HE WILL KILL YOU AGAIN.
She looked at Jonathan.
“What happened the first time?”
Jonathan’s face changed.
For the first time, he looked afraid.
“You remembered.”
The station shook.
A hidden door opened behind the ticket counter.
Inside was a staircase leading underground.
Emma stared.
“What is down there?”
Jonathan whispered:
“The place where your real life began.”
The phone vibrated again.
A final message appeared.
GO DOWNSTAIRS.
Emma looked at the dark staircase.
Then at Jonathan.
Then at the phone.
She knew one thing.
Someone was lying.
Maybe everyone was.
She slowly stepped toward the stairs.
And as she disappeared into the darkness, a camera hidden above the station recorded everything.
A voice watched from somewhere unknown.
A voice that sounded exactly like Emma.
It whispered:
“Finally… the game has started.”
To Be Continued…
