Where My Heart Finally Found You

Chapter 6

Where My Heart Finally Found You

WHERE MY HEART FOUND YOU · July 22, 2026

Midnight.

The old Blackwood Station stood beneath a sky filled with dark clouds.

The railway tracks disappeared into the distance.

No trains had passed through the station in years.

No one came here.

No one except people who had secrets.

Meher stood beside Aariz.

She was wearing a long black coat.

Her hands were cold.

Aariz noticed.

He took them in his.

“You can still go back.”

Meher looked at him.

“No.”

“Meher.”

“I said no.”

“This isn’t a joke.”

“I know.”

“You could get hurt.”

“So could you.”

“I’ve spent my entire life dealing with dangerous people.”

“And I’ve spent my entire life being lied to by them.”

She looked into his eyes.

“So I think I deserve to know the truth.”

Aariz smiled sadly.

“You know what I love about you?”

Meher raised an eyebrow.

“Only one thing?”

He laughed.

“You’re still making jokes.”

“I’m nervous.”

“So am I.”

Meher stared at him.

“You?”

“Yes.”

“Why?”

Aariz looked at her.

“Because this time, I have something to lose.”

Her expression softened.

“What?”

He took her hand.

“You.”

Meher’s heart tightened.

“Aariz…”

“I know I keep saying it.”

“Then stop.”

“Why?”

“Because every time you say things like that…”

She looked away.

“…I fall in love with you all over again.”

Aariz smiled.

“Then I should probably keep saying them.”

Meher laughed softly.

Then the station lights turned on.

Both of them froze.

A voice echoed through the empty building.

“Welcome.”

Aariz immediately moved in front of Meher.

“Show yourself.”

Footsteps.

Slow.

Calm.

A man appeared from the shadows.

Meher recognized him.

She had seen his face before.

In old photographs.

In her father’s documents.

In the memories she had spent years trying to understand.

Her grandfather.

Alan Cole.

But he wasn’t alone.

Beside him stood another man.

Meher’s heart stopped.

Aariz stared.

The man was older now.

His hair was gray.

His face had changed.

But there was something familiar about him.

Aariz whispered:

“Daniel.”

The man smiled.

“Aariz.”

Meher looked at him.

“Your brother?”

Aariz couldn’t speak.

Daniel stepped forward.

Meher stared.

“I thought you were dead.”

Daniel smiled.

“Everyone did.”

Aariz’s eyes filled with tears.

“How?”

Daniel looked at Alan.

“Our father.”

Aariz turned toward the old man.

“You told me he was dead.”

Alan smiled.

“You were young.”

Aariz’s voice became cold.

“You lied to me.”

“Yes.”

“Why?”

“Because I needed you to hate me.”

Aariz stared.

“What?”

Alan walked closer.

“Hatred makes people strong.”

“Love makes them weak.”

Meher stepped forward.

“That’s why you destroyed my family.”

Alan looked at her.

“Your family destroyed itself.”

“No.”

Meher’s voice became stronger.

“You did.”

Alan smiled.

“You sound like your mother.”

“Good.”

Meher stepped closer.

“Because she was right about you.”

Alan’s expression changed.

For the first time…

He looked angry.

“Your mother was a fool.”

“She created the Five Men of Blackwood.”

“She gave us power.”

“And then she became afraid of it.”

“Your father wanted to expose us.”

“So he had to die.”

Meher’s eyes filled with tears.

“You killed him.”

Alan nodded.

“Yes.”

Aariz stepped forward.

“And my brother?”

Alan looked at him.

“I saved him.”

Aariz froze.

“You?”

“Your brother was never dead.”

“Then why did you tell me he was?”

“Because I wanted you to become useful.”

Aariz’s hands tightened.

“You made me believe I had failed him.”

“You blamed yourself.”

“You became angry.”

“You became strong.”

Alan smiled.

“And then I gave you a purpose.”

Aariz’s voice shook.

“You destroyed my life.”

“No.”

Alan looked at Meher.

“She did.”

Meher froze.

Aariz immediately stepped between them.

“Don’t you dare.”

Alan laughed.

“You love her.”

“Yes.”

“That’s why she’s your weakness.”

“No.”

Aariz looked at Meher.

“She’s my reason.”

Alan shook his head.

“Love always ends in pain.”

Aariz smiled.

“Maybe.”

He took Meher’s hand.

“But I would rather spend one day loving her…”

“…than spend a lifetime without knowing what love feels like.”

Meher looked at him.

Alan stared.

“You sound like your father.”

Aariz’s expression changed.

“Don’t compare me to him.”

“Why?”

“Because he was a better man than you.”

Silence.

Alan’s smile disappeared.

Then suddenly…

Daniel stepped forward.

“Enough.”

Alan looked at him.

“You were supposed to stay quiet.”

“I’ve been quiet for fifteen years.”

Daniel looked at Aariz.

“I’m tired.”

Aariz stared at him.

“Tell me everything.”

Daniel nodded.

“Your father wasn’t a member of the Five Men.”

Aariz froze.

“What?”

“He was investigating them.”

“Then why did you say—”

“Because Alan told you.”

Aariz turned toward Alan.

The old man remained silent.

Daniel continued.

“Your father was a police officer.”

“He discovered the organization.”

“He went undercover.”

“He met Meher’s father.”

“And together…”

“They tried to destroy Blackwood.”

Meher stared.

“My father was helping him?”

“Yes.”

“And my mother?”

Daniel nodded.

“She created the organization.”

“But she eventually wanted to destroy it.”

“Why?”

“Because she realized what it had become.”

Meher looked toward Alan.

“And you?”

Daniel laughed bitterly.

“He was the real leader.”

Alan’s face changed.

Meher stepped backward.

“You controlled everyone.”

“Yes.”

“Why?”

“Because people are easier to control when they think they’re free.”

Meher shook her head.

“You ruined everything.”

Alan looked at her.

“Perhaps.”

“But I gave you life.”

“You gave me fear.”

“You gave me secrets.”

“You gave me a childhood I can’t remember.”

Alan smiled.

“And yet…”

He looked at Aariz.

“You found love.”

Meher froze.

Alan continued:

“That was the one thing I never expected.”

Aariz’s hand tightened around hers.

“Your plan was to make us fall in love?”

“No.”

Alan looked at them.

“Your love was an accident.”

“And that’s why I couldn’t control it.”

Meher whispered:

“Then why did you bring us here?”

Alan looked toward Daniel.

“Because it is time to end this.”

Aariz’s expression changed.

“What does that mean?”

Alan pulled out a small device.

“The evidence.”

“The names.”

“The accounts.”

“Everything.”

He handed it to Meher.

She stared.

“Why?”

“Because you’re the last person who can destroy Blackwood.”

Meher didn’t move.

“Why should I trust you?”

“You shouldn’t.”

Alan smiled.

“But you should trust the evidence.”

He turned away.

Aariz watched him.

“Wait.”

Alan stopped.

Aariz’s voice was cold.

“Why did you let my brother live?”

Alan looked back.

“Because I knew one day you’d come looking for him.”

“And?”

“And I knew you would bring her.”

He looked at Meher.

“Why?”

“Because your love would lead you here.”

Aariz stared.

Alan smiled.

“The two of you were always going to find each other.”

Meher looked at Aariz.

“What does that mean?”

Aariz shook his head.

“I don’t know.”

Daniel stepped forward.

“I do.”

Everyone looked at him.

Daniel took a breath.

“Fifteen years ago…”

“Before the fire…”

“Meher and Aariz had already met.”

Meher’s heart stopped.

“I remember.”

Daniel nodded.

“But there’s something you don’t remember.”

“What?”

“Your father knew Aariz.”

Aariz froze.

“What?”

Daniel looked at him.

“Your father met Meher’s father.”

“He told him about you.”

Aariz’s face went pale.

“What did he say?”

Daniel smiled.

“He said…”

“One day…”

“These two children will save each other.”

Silence.

Meher looked at Aariz.

Aariz looked at her.

Neither spoke.

Daniel continued:

“Your father knew that Blackwood would destroy everything.”

“So he made one final decision.”

“He sent you away.”

“But before you left…”

“You met Meher.”

“You saved her.”

“She saved you.”

“And then…”

“Their memories were erased.”

Meher whispered:

“Why?”

“Because if Alan found out that you two were connected…”

“He would use you against each other.”

Meher’s eyes filled with tears.

Aariz took her hand.

Daniel smiled.

“But he failed.”

“Because after fifteen years…”

“You found each other again.”

Meher looked at Aariz.

Tears were falling from his eyes.

“Why are you crying?”

He smiled.

“Because I spent years thinking our meeting was an accident.”

“And?”

“Now I know…”

He touched her cheek.

“…I was looking for you before I even knew your name.”

Meher’s heart broke.

She hugged him.

Aariz held her tightly.

Daniel looked away.

Alan watched them silently.

For the first time…

He looked almost human.

Meher pulled away.

“Where is my mother?”

Daniel answered.

“Safe.”

“Where?”

“She left.”

“Why?”

“Because she knew you needed to discover the truth without her.”

Meher’s eyes filled with tears.

“Will I see her again?”

Daniel smiled.

“Yes.”

“How do you know?”

“Because she asked me to give you this.”

He handed her a letter.

Meher opened it.

Her mother’s handwriting.

My beautiful daughter,

I don’t know if you will ever forgive me.

I hope one day you will.

I made terrible choices.

I hurt people.

I created something that became bigger than me.

But the greatest thing I ever did was love you.

Even when I left…

I never stopped loving you.

You were always my reason for surviving.

And now I want you to live.

Not for me.

Not for your father.

Not for the past.

Live for yourself.

And if you love someone…

Don’t be afraid to love them completely.

Your father once told me that love is the only thing powerful enough to destroy fear.

I didn’t believe him then.

Now I do.

I love you.

Forever.

Meher pressed the letter against her heart.

For the first time in fifteen years…

She cried for her mother.

Not because she had lost her.

But because she finally understood her.

Three months later…

The Blackwood organization was destroyed.

The evidence was released.

The names were exposed.

The people responsible were arrested.

Alan Cole was taken to prison.

And Daniel…

He disappeared.

Aariz’s father was finally cleared.

Meher’s father was remembered as the man who had tried to expose Blackwood.

And Meher’s mother…

She was alive.

Somewhere.

Waiting.

Healing.

Meher visited her once.

It wasn’t easy.

There were tears.

Anger.

Silence.

But there was also something else.

Forgiveness.

Not immediately.

Not completely.

But enough to begin.

Spring arrived.

The city became warm again.

Meher stood beside the sea.

The wind moved through her hair.

She closed her eyes.

“You’re late.”

A voice came from behind her.

She smiled.

“You were supposed to come at six.”

“I came at six.”

“It’s six-thirty.”

“Exactly.”

She turned.

Aariz was standing there.

He was wearing a simple white shirt.

His hair was messy.

And he was smiling.

Meher looked at him.

“You’re impossible.”

“You’ve said that before.”

“Because it’s still true.”

Aariz walked toward her.

He held something behind his back.

“What is that?”

“Nothing.”

“Aariz.”

“Nothing.”

She tried to see.

He moved away.

“Stop.”

“What?”

“You’re hiding something.”

“Maybe.”

“Tell me.”

“No.”

She narrowed her eyes.

“I will find out.”

“I know.”

“Then tell me.”

Aariz smiled.

“Fine.”

He pulled out a small box.

Meher stared.

“Aariz…”

“Before you say anything…”

He opened it.

Inside was a ring.

Meher’s eyes widened.

“No.”

Aariz laughed.

“That’s not the reaction I was hoping for.”

She covered her mouth.

“You’re crazy.”

“Probably.”

“You didn’t…”

“I did.”

“Why?”

Aariz took the ring.

He stepped closer.

“Because I’ve spent my whole life running.”

“From my past.”

“From my family.”

“From my mistakes.”

“From love.”

He looked into her eyes.

“And then I found you.”

Meher’s eyes filled with tears.

“You became the one place I wanted to stay.”

He took her hand.

“So…”

He went down on one knee.

Meher’s heart stopped.

“Aariz.”

“Meher Cole…”

She laughed through her tears.

“Don’t make me cry.”

“I’m trying to.”

“You’re horrible.”

“I know.”

He smiled.

“Will you marry me?”

Meher stared at him.

She remembered everything.

The café.

The rain.

The secrets.

The lies.

The fear.

The night she thought she had lost him.

The boy she once saved.

The man who had saved her.

Her best friend.

Her greatest love.

Her home.

She looked at him.

And smiled.

“Yes.”

Aariz froze.

“Yes?”

“Yes.”

“Are you sure?”

“No.”

He stared.

Meher laughed.

“I’m joking.”

Aariz stood.

“You are evil.”

“You love me.”

“Unfortunately.”

She threw her arms around him.

“Very much.”

Aariz held her.

Then whispered:

“Say it again.”

“I love you.”

“Again.”

“I love you.”

He kissed her forehead.

Then her cheek.

Finally…

He looked into her eyes.

“Meher?”

“Yes?”

“Do you remember what you told me fifteen years ago?”

She smiled.

“One day, someone will come and save you.”

Aariz nodded.

“And you did.”

Meher touched his face.

“No.”

He looked confused.

She whispered:

“You saved me too.”

Aariz smiled.

“Maybe we saved each other.”

Meher leaned closer.

“Maybe that’s what love is.”

“What?”

“Finding the person who sees all your broken pieces…”

She touched his heart.

“…and still chooses to stay.”

Aariz held her tighter.

“I would choose you in every lifetime.”

Meher smiled.

“And I would find you.”

“Even if you forgot me?”

“Especially then.”

He kissed her forehead.

The sun began to set.

The sky turned golden.

And for the first time…

There were no secrets between them.

No lies.

No fear.

Only love.

A love that had survived fifteen years.

A love that had survived death.

A love that had survived the truth.

Meher rested her head against Aariz’s chest.

His heartbeat was steady.

She closed her eyes.

“Aariz?”

“Yes?”

“Where is home?”

He looked down at her.

She smiled.

“Is it the house?”

“The city?”

“The place where we grew up?”

Aariz shook his head.

“No.”

“Then where?”

He touched her face.

“Wherever you are.”

Meher smiled.

“That’s a very dangerous answer.”

“Why?”

“Because now you’re stuck with me.”

Aariz laughed.

“Forever?”

“Forever.”

He kissed her forehead.

“Good.”

And as the sun disappeared beyond the horizon…

Meher finally understood something.

She had spent years searching for the truth.

She had believed the truth would save her.

But the truth had only shown her who she really was.

The real thing that saved her…

Was love.

Not the perfect kind.

Not the easy kind.

But the kind that stayed.

The kind that forgave.

The kind that chose you again and again.

Even after knowing every secret.

Every mistake.

Every scar.

And somewhere between all the darkness…

Meher had found him.

The boy she had once saved.

The man who had saved her.

The love she had never expected.

And the home she had spent her whole life searching for.

She looked into Aariz’s eyes.

“I found you.”

He smiled.

“No.”

He held her hand.

“You found your way home.”

And this time…

There was no mystery left.

No secret waiting in the shadows.

No past chasing them.

Only two hearts.

Two souls.

One love.

And a lifetime waiting ahead.
