The Rise of the Void King

Chapter 6

The Rise of the Void King

Shadow Ranker: Rise of the Void King · July 20, 2026

The sky above Astravia burned with crimson light.

The enormous portal hanging over the city continued to expand, swallowing the stars one by one. Thousands of glowing eyes stared down from the darkness beyond, waiting for a single command.

Panic spread through the streets.

Families abandoned their homes.

Hunters rushed toward the academy, but many stopped in fear as they saw the colossal winged figure floating above the battlefield.

The Emperor.

His presence alone was enough to make the strongest warriors struggle to breathe.

Kael stood in the center of the ruined academy, gripping his sword with trembling hands.

Every instinct told him to run.

But there was nowhere left to run.

Behind him were the students he had sworn to protect.

In front of him stood the enemy who could destroy an entire kingdom.

The Emperor slowly descended from the sky, his six shadowy wings spreading across the battlefield.

“So this is the boy chosen by the Void,” he said, his deep voice echoing through the city.

“You are weaker than I expected.”

Kael remained silent.

The Emperor extended one hand.

“Kneel before me.”

“I can give you power beyond imagination.”

“Refuse…”

“And everyone you love will disappear.”

Kael looked around.

The academy was in ruins.

Teachers lay injured across the battlefield.

Students struggled to protect one another.

His eyes finally met Leon’s.

Despite his wounds, Leon smiled.

“Don’t listen to him.”

“We’ll fight together.”

Those simple words brought back every memory of their childhood.

The training.

The dreams.

The promise that one day they would become Hunters together.

Kael smiled for the first time since entering Graystone Cave.

“I finally understand.”

The Emperor frowned.

“Understand what?”

Kael planted his broken sword into the ground.

“Power isn’t what makes someone strong.”

“It’s the reason they fight.”

The wind suddenly stopped.

Darkness spread beneath Kael’s feet.

It moved across the battlefield like a living sea.

Every shadow in the academy flowed toward him.

The ruined buildings.

The broken weapons.

Even the shadows cast by the flames.

Everything gathered around Kael.

The Emperor’s expression changed.

“No…”

“This power…”

Ancient symbols appeared across Kael’s arms once again, shining brighter than ever before.

A black cloak formed around his shoulders.

His broken sword slowly repaired itself, its cracked blade becoming a beautiful weapon forged from silver and black crystal.

The enormous portal above the city began to shake.

The creatures waiting inside suddenly became restless.

One after another…

They lowered their heads.

Not before the Emperor.

Before Kael.

The Emperor stepped backward.

“This is impossible.”

“The Void Throne was destroyed a thousand years ago.”

Kael slowly lifted his new sword.

“I don’t need a throne.”

“I’ll create a new future.”

With incredible speed, he rushed forward.

The Emperor raised his massive blade.

Their swords collided.

The impact split the clouds above the city.

A shockwave spread for miles.

Windows shattered throughout Astravia.

Mountains trembled in the distance.

The Emperor attacked again and again.

Each strike carried enough force to destroy buildings.

Kael dodged every blow.

His movements had become calm.

Precise.

Like flowing water.

Finally…

The Emperor swung with all his strength.

Kael stepped inside the attack.

Their eyes met for a brief moment.

“You’ve already lost.”

One clean strike.

Silence.

The Emperor remained standing.

Then a thin crack appeared across his black armor.

The crack spread through his chest.

His sword.

His wings.

His armor.

Everything shattered into countless fragments of black light.

The Emperor looked at Kael with a faint smile.

“So…”

“The prophecy was true after all.”

His body dissolved into ash, carried away by the wind.

The enormous portal above the city collapsed.

The crimson sky returned to blue.

Sunlight broke through the clouds.

For the first time in days…

The city was silent.

Cheers slowly echoed across the academy.

The students had survived.

The Shadow Cult fled after losing their Emperor.

Astravia was safe once again.

Weeks later…

The academy was rebuilt.

The Headmaster stood before hundreds of new students.

“Today, we welcome a new Combat Instructor.”

The doors opened.

Kael walked into the hall wearing the academy’s black Hunter coat.

The same students who once mocked him now applauded with admiration.

Leon smiled from the front row.

“I told you you’d make it.”

Kael laughed.

“I almost didn’t.”

Outside the academy walls, children could already be heard telling stories about the mysterious young Hunter who had saved the kingdom.

Some called him a hero.

Others called him a legend.

But one name became known across every kingdom.

The Void King.

Kael looked toward the distant horizon where the sun was rising.

His journey as a frightened F-Rank student had ended.

A new journey as the strongest Hunter in history had just begun.
