The Girl Who Collected Forgotten Stars
THE CITY THAT DREAMED IN BLUE · August 24, 2026
In the year 2276, nobody looked at the stars anymore.
The stars had become invisible behind the enormous silver shield surrounding Earth.
Humanity called it The Veil.
It protected the planet from solar storms, meteors, and unknown creatures discovered beyond the solar system.
For eighty years, people had lived safely beneath it.
But seventeen-year-old Mira Solen believed the Veil was hiding something.
Every evening, she climbed onto the roof of her apartment building and collected broken pieces of old technology from the abandoned streets below.
She wasn’t supposed to be there.
Nobody was.
The old city had been abandoned after the construction of Nova City, a perfect floating metropolis built above the clouds.
Nova City had everything.
Artificial gardens.
Floating rivers.
Robotic servants.
Glass roads.
Artificial sunlight.
And absolutely no darkness.
Mira hated it.
She preferred the old world.
The broken world.
The world where the sky was real.
One night, while searching through the ruins of an ancient observatory, Mira discovered something unusual.
A small blue sphere.
It was no bigger than her palm.
It floated above the floor.
She reached toward it.
The moment her fingers touched the sphere, the entire observatory came alive.
Lights flickered across the walls.
Old screens opened.
A forgotten voice whispered through the darkness.
“If you can hear this, the city has already started dreaming.”
Mira stepped backward.
“Who’s there?”
The voice continued.
“Do not trust Nova City.”
The screens suddenly displayed thousands of people sleeping inside enormous glass chambers.
Mira stared in disbelief.
“What is this?”
Then she saw herself.
On one of the screens.
Sleeping inside a glass chamber.
Mira’s heart stopped.
The screen showed a date.
YEAR 2314.
But the current year was 2276.
She looked at the blue sphere.
It began glowing brighter.
A figure appeared inside it.
A boy.
He had messy black hair and pale blue eyes.
He looked directly at Mira.
“Finally.”
Mira whispered:
“Who are you?”
“My name is Eren Vale.”
“Where are you?”
“Four decades from now.”
Mira laughed nervously.
“This isn’t funny.”
“I know.”
The boy looked frightened.
“We don’t have much time.”
“For what?”
Eren glanced behind him.
Something enormous moved through the darkness.
His face went pale.
“They’re coming.”
“Who?”
“The Dreamers.”
The screen went black.
Mira stood completely still.
Then the blue sphere spoke again.
“Find the city beneath the city.”
A hidden door opened beneath the observatory floor.
Mira stared into the darkness below.
She had spent her entire life believing humanity had escaped its dangerous past.
Now she realized something terrifying.
Perhaps humanity had never escaped.
Perhaps it had simply fallen asleep.
Mira picked up the blue sphere.
“I’ll find you, Eren.”
His voice returned one final time.
“Don’t.”
She froze.
“Why?”
A pause.
Then he whispered:
“Because when you find me…”
The lights flickered.
“…you’ll discover that you’re the reason the future was destroyed.”
The connection disappeared.
Outside, Nova City’s enormous towers suddenly turned blue.
Every window lit up at once.
Millions of sleeping citizens opened their eyes.
And all of them looked toward Mira’s building.
For the first time in eighty years, the Veil above Earth began to crack.
And behind it…
something was waiting.
