THE PANEL THAT MOVED
THE BOY WHO DREW THE FUTURE · August 3, 2026
The city of Aethera was a place where impossible things happened every day.
People walked beneath floating trains. Giant holographic dragons advertised video games above skyscrapers. Robots delivered food to apartment windows, while street artists painted colorful heroes across the walls of old buildings.
But seventeen-year-old Kai Ren lived in the quietest part of the city.
He was not a hero.
He was not famous.
He had no special powers.
Kai was simply a boy who loved drawing comics.
Every night, he sat at his small desk near the window and filled page after page with strange characters that existed only inside his imagination.
His favorite character was a masked hero named Veyron.
Veyron wore a black coat, carried a silver sword, and possessed the ability to control shadows. In Kai’s drawings, Veyron always fought against a mysterious enemy called The Hollow King.
Kai had been drawing the story for three years.
But he had never finished it.
There was one problem.
He didn’t know how the story should end.
“Come on,” Kai whispered, staring at his latest page. “Give me something.”
The page showed Veyron standing on top of a ruined tower.
Behind him was a burning city.
In front of him stood the Hollow King.
Kai picked up his pencil.
He was about to draw the final battle when something strange happened.
The ink on the page moved.
Kai froze.
His pencil slipped from his fingers.
“What…”
The black lines on the paper slowly shifted.
The Hollow King’s head turned.
Kai stared at the drawing.
The character was looking directly at him.
Kai jumped backward.
His chair crashed against the wall.
“No way.”
He blinked.
The drawing was normal again.
Kai slowly approached the desk.
“Okay. I’m tired.”
He rubbed his eyes.
“Definitely tired.”
Then he heard a voice.
“You’re late.”
Kai stopped breathing.
The voice had come from the comic.
His eyes widened.
The page moved again.
This time, Veyron’s sword lifted from the paper.
Kai stumbled backward.
“What is happening?”
Veyron’s drawn eyes glowed blue.
“Listen carefully,” the character said. “The Hollow King has found your world.”
Kai stared at him.
“My… world?”
“Yes.”
Kai laughed nervously.
“Okay. This is officially the weirdest dream I’ve ever had.”
“Wake up, then.”
Kai looked around.
“I am awake.”
The room suddenly shook.
His window exploded.
Glass flew across the floor.
Kai screamed and covered his head.
A dark creature entered through the broken window.
It looked like a giant wolf made of black smoke.
Its eyes were red.
Kai crawled backward.
“What the hell is that?”
The creature growled.
Kai’s comic fell from the desk.
The moment it touched the floor, the page opened.
Veyron stepped out.
Not as a drawing.
As a real person.
He landed between Kai and the creature.
Kai’s mouth fell open.
Veyron was tall, wearing the same black coat Kai had drawn hundreds of times.
His silver sword appeared in his hand.
“Stay behind me.”
Kai pointed at him.
“You!”
Veyron looked back.
“Yes.”
“You’re real!”
“Unfortunately.”
The creature attacked.
Veyron swung his sword.
A wave of blue energy exploded through the room.
The monster crashed into the wall.
Kai stared.
This was impossible.
This was his character.
His creation.
And now he was standing in his bedroom.
Veyron turned toward him.
“Kai Ren.”
Kai’s face went pale.
“How do you know my name?”
“Because you wrote it.”
“I never wrote your name.”
Veyron’s expression became serious.
“Not yet.”
Before Kai could answer, the creature disappeared.
The room became silent.
Veyron looked at the broken window.
“We have very little time.”
Kai grabbed his comic.
“What are you talking about?”
“The Hollow King is coming.”
Kai looked at the final page.
The Hollow King was still standing there.
But something was different.
His face had changed.
The character was smiling.
Kai’s heart began to race.
“That’s not how I drew him.”
Veyron looked at the page.
“Of course not.”
“Then who changed it?”
Veyron slowly looked at Kai.
“You did.”
“I didn’t!”
“You haven’t.”
Kai stared at him.
“What does that mean?”
Veyron pointed toward the comic.
“Your drawings are no longer fiction.”
Kai shook his head.
“This is crazy.”
“The world inside your comic is real.”
Kai couldn’t speak.
Veyron continued.
“Every character you’ve drawn exists somewhere. Every battle. Every death. Every city.”
Kai looked at his comic.
“Every death?”
Veyron nodded.
“You created our world.”
Kai felt sick.
“Then why don’t I remember creating a real world?”
“Because you were never supposed to remember.”
A loud explosion shook the entire city.
Kai ran toward the window.
Far away, a massive black tower had appeared between the skyscrapers.
Dark clouds surrounded it.
People were running through the streets.
Sirens screamed.
Veyron stood beside Kai.
“The Hollow King has arrived.”
Kai stared at the tower.
“Why?”
Veyron looked at him.
“Because he wants you.”
“Me?”
“You’re the creator.”
Kai shook his head.
“I’m just a comic artist.”
Veyron’s voice became quiet.
“No, Kai.”
He placed his hand on Kai’s shoulder.
“You’re something much more dangerous.”
Suddenly, Kai’s comic began glowing.
A new page appeared.
Kai had never drawn it.
His hands trembled as he picked it up.
There was only one sentence written on the page.
THE CREATOR WILL DIE BEFORE THE STORY ENDS.
Kai stared at the words.
Then another sentence appeared.
UNLESS HE LEARNS TO DRAW THE FUTURE.
Kai looked at Veyron.
“What does that mean?”
Veyron drew his sword.
“It means your story has changed.”
The bedroom door suddenly exploded.
A group of shadow creatures rushed inside.
Veyron attacked them.
Kai ran toward the desk.
His comic was glowing brighter.
He picked up his pencil.
He didn’t know what to do.
He had spent years drawing heroes.
But now he needed one.
A shadow creature jumped toward him.
Kai instinctively drew a circle on the page.
The ink exploded.
A giant wall appeared between him and the creature.
Kai stared.
“I drew that…”
Veyron smiled.
“Now you understand.”
Kai looked down at the pencil.
The power was inside him.
Every line he drew could become real.
Every character could enter his world.
Every mistake could become a monster.
And somewhere inside the darkness, the Hollow King was waiting.
Kai opened a fresh page.
For the first time in his life, he wasn’t drawing a story.
He was writing his own destiny.
He looked at Veyron.
“Tell me something.”
“What?”
“Can I draw anything?”
Veyron’s smile disappeared.
“No.”
“Why not?”
“Because every creation has a price.”
Kai looked down.
“What price?”
Before Veyron could answer, a deep voice echoed through the entire city.
“KAIIII REN.”
The windows shattered again.
The black tower in the distance opened like a giant eye.
The Hollow King had found him.
Veyron raised his sword.
Kai gripped his pencil.
And for the first time, the boy who had always drawn heroes prepared to become one.
The war between fiction and reality had begun.
And Kai had no idea that the first person he would have to save…
Would be himself.
