WHO IS KNOCKING ON THE ENDLESS DOOR?
THE HAUNTED HOTEL THAT FORGOT TO DIE · August 6, 2026
The giant golden door trembled.
BOOM!
Another knock echoed through the ballroom.
Every ghost covered their ears.
The chandeliers burst into blue flames.
The walls of Moonlight Grand Hotel groaned like they were alive.
Leo Carter swallowed hard.
For the first time since entering the hotel…
He wished he had stayed home watching detective movies.
Oscar Flynn slowly raised his shaking hand.
“I have a suggestion.”
Maya sighed.
“You want to run?”
Oscar nodded.
“I always want to run.”
Another knock.
BOOM!
This time the golden door opened another inch.
Cold black mist poured into the room.
Inside the mist, hundreds of glowing eyes appeared.
Some were red.
Some green.
Some had no pupils at all.
A deep voice echoed from beyond the door.
“Is the world ready?”
Nobody answered.
The voice laughed.
The sound shook every room in the hotel.
Professor Edgar Moon dropped his notebook.
His hands were trembling.
“I’ve spent forty years studying haunted places…”
“…and I prayed this door was only a legend.”
Leo looked at him.
“So what’s behind it?”
The professor whispered,
“The oldest ghost.”
Bella frowned.
“I thought ghosts were once humans.”
Professor Moon slowly nodded.
“They are.”
“But not this one.”
Everyone became silent.
The golden door opened a little wider.
A giant claw reached through the opening.
It was made entirely of black smoke.
Long silver claws scratched the floor.
SCREEEEEECH!
Oscar jumped behind Leo.
“I don’t like claws.”
Leo whispered,
“I don’t think the claws care.”
Suddenly, Adrian Vale stepped forward.
“No.”
Everyone looked at him.
“The door wants me.”
The hotel owner laughed.
“Exactly.”
Adrian looked at Leo.
“If I surrender…”
“…the rest of you can escape.”
Leo immediately shook his head.
“No.”
Oscar blinked.
“No?”
Leo folded his arms.
“We don’t leave teammates behind.”
Bella smiled proudly.
“That’s the first sensible thing you’ve said all day.”
Leo grinned.
“I’ve been saving it.”
The hotel owner grew impatient.
“Enough.”
He raised both hands.
Hundreds of ghost chains flew toward Adrian.
Before they could reach him—
BANG!
A frying pan smashed into the villain’s head.
Chef Bob stood proudly.
“Kitchen equipment wins again!”
The frying pan immediately broke.
Chef Bob stared at the handle.
“…I need stronger cookware.”
Even the frightened ghosts laughed.
The villain rubbed his head angrily.
“You hit me…”
“…with a frying pan?”
Chef Bob shrugged.
“It worked.”
While everyone was distracted…
The karate chicken quietly walked toward the Endless Door.
Oscar noticed.
“Hey!”
The chicken ignored him.
It stared at the huge claw.
The claw slowly moved closer.
Everyone held their breath.
The tiny chicken tilted its head.
Then…
It pecked the giant claw.
TAP!
Silence.
The claw froze.
Leo blinked.
“Did…”
Oscar finished the sentence.
“…the chicken just challenge an ancient horror?”
The chicken proudly flapped its wings.
The enormous creature growled.
Then, unbelievably…
It slowly pulled its claw back inside the door.
Chef Bob gasped.
“The chicken scared it!”
Oscar crossed his arms proudly.
“I always believed in that chicken.”
Leo looked at him.
“You called it evil yesterday.”
Oscar coughed.
“People grow.”
Moonlight—the living heart of the hotel—suddenly spoke through every wall.
“I have an idea.”
Everyone turned.
Professor Moon smiled.
“The hotel has a plan.”
Moonlight continued,
“The Endless Door can only remain open…”
“…if someone outside keeps it unlocked.”
Everyone slowly looked toward the hotel owner.
He suddenly stopped smiling.
Leo grinned.
“So…”
He pointed dramatically.
“You’re the key.”
The villain’s expression changed.
“…No.”
Leo smiled wider.
“Oh yes.”
Without warning…
The ghosts of the hotel rushed forward together.
Bella.
Chef Bob.
The Bellboy.
Vincent Black.
Hundreds of forgotten guests.
All of them surrounded the hotel owner.
He fought back with dark magic.
Ghosts flew across the ballroom.
Walls exploded.
Tables floated through the air.
The entire hotel shook violently.
Leo turned toward Professor Moon.
“How do we close the door?”
The professor flipped through his notebook.
“There is an ancient ritual.”
Leo smiled hopefully.
“Great.”
The professor frowned.
“…Unfortunately, the last page is missing.”
Leo’s smile disappeared.
“Of course it is.”
Oscar sighed.
“Why is the important page always missing?”
Maya suddenly remembered something.
“The reception desk!”
Everyone looked at her.
“The old guest register!”
Bella’s eyes widened.
“The founder wrote secret notes inside it!”
Leo pointed.
“Then let’s find it!”
They raced through the moving hotel.
Hallways twisted.
Doors changed places.
The elevators moved sideways instead of up.
Oscar screamed as one staircase folded into a slide.
“I hate magical architecture!”
They finally reached the reception desk.
The ancient guest register still lay there.
Maya quickly opened it.
Most pages were blank.
Then, near the end…
She found a hidden folded paper.
Professor Moon unfolded it carefully.
His eyes widened.
“We can seal the Endless Door…”
“…with laughter.”
Everyone stared.
Leo blinked.
“Laughter?”
Professor Moon nodded.
“The first builder believed…”
“…true laughter destroys ancient darkness because fear cannot survive where hope exists.”
Oscar frowned.
“That’s surprisingly wholesome.”
Back in the ballroom…
The hotel owner had almost reached Adrian.
The Endless Door was opening wider.
Dark smoke filled the room.
The mysterious being behind the door whispered,
“Let me in…”
Leo took a deep breath.
“I have the stupidest idea of my life.”
Oscar looked worried.
“That’s saying something.”
Leo climbed onto a broken table.
He cleared his throat.
Then he began telling the worst jokes imaginable.
“What do ghosts eat for breakfast?”
Nobody answered.
“Scream cheese!“
Complete silence.
Even the villain looked disappointed.
Leo continued.
“What hotel do skeletons visit?”
Oscar buried his face.
“No…”
“The Bone-and-Breakfast!“
Chef Bob laughed first.
Then Bella.
Then Vincent.
Soon the bellboy laughed.
Then Maya.
Oscar tried not to laugh…
…but failed.
Even Professor Moon chuckled.
The laughter spread through the ballroom.
The ghosts laughed.
The monsters laughed.
Sir Giggles laughed the loudest of all.
His magical laughter echoed through the hotel.
The building glowed with warm golden light.
Moonlight’s heartbeat became stronger.
THUMP!
THUMP!
THUMP!
The Endless Door slowly began closing.
The giant claw tried to push it open again—
—but the laughter became louder.
The mysterious voice roared in anger.
“NO!”
The golden doors slammed shut.
BOOOOOOM!
A wave of light exploded across the hotel.
The dark smoke disappeared.
The whispers stopped.
Silence returned.
The hotel owner fell to his knees.
His dark powers faded.
He looked around at the laughing ghosts.
For the first time…
He looked lonely.
Leo walked toward him.
“You lost.”
The villain sighed.
“I spent centuries trying to control fear…”
“…and I forgot something simple.”
“What?”
Leo smiled.
“People who stand together are much harder to scare.”
The villain closed his eyes.
“I understand now.”
His body slowly dissolved into silver light.
Within seconds…
He was gone.
Moonlight spoke softly.
“The hotel is safe again.”
Bella smiled through happy tears.
“The guests are finally free.”
Vincent Black looked toward the front doors.
“I can finally check out.”
Oscar laughed.
“About time.”
Outside…
The first rays of sunrise touched the old hotel.
For the first time in decades…
The building looked peaceful.
Its broken walls repaired themselves.
Flowers appeared beside the entrance.
The giant sign lit up once more.
But this time it read:
MOONLIGHT GRAND HOTEL
NOW OPEN FOR LIVING GUESTS
Everyone smiled.
Until…
The front desk telephone suddenly rang.
RING…
RING…
Bella answered.
“…Hello?”
She listened for a moment.
Then slowly looked at Leo.
Her smile disappeared.
“Someone wants to book…”
“…Room 999.”
Far away…
A mysterious figure wearing a long gray coat watched the hotel from a nearby hill.
He smiled.
“So…”
“…the game begins.”
His glowing eyes disappeared into the morning fog.
