Beyond the Last Star
THE LAST CITY ABOVE THE STARS · August 18, 2026
Three months had passed since the night the sky changed.
Earth was different now.
The oceans were calmer.
The poisoned air had begun to heal.
Forests were returning to places where nothing had grown for generations.
And the Astra Cities were no longer floating prisons.
They had become part of Earth again.
For the first time in almost a century, humans looked at the sky without fear.

“Because something lives there.”

“What?”

Her mother nodded.

“What happened?”

“Come with us.”
Lena looked at Kai.
He smiled.
“You already know my answer.”
She laughed.
“I haven’t even asked.”
“You were going to.”
She looked back toward her mother.
“We’re coming.”
The journey to the alien galaxy took only seconds.
But Lena felt as if she had traveled through eternity.
The portal opened above an enormous silver planet.
A city covered the surface.
It was breathtaking.
Buildings rose like crystal mountains.
Rivers of light flowed between them.
Thousands of abandoned spacecraft floated above the streets.

The ground began shaking.
Every building lit up.
A massive voice echoed through the city.
“LENA VALE.”
The little girl disappeared.
A giant artificial intelligence appeared above them.
It had no face.
Only two enormous blue eyes.
Lena looked up.
“What are you?”
The answer came immediately.
“I AM THE ARCHITECT.”
“Why did you call me?”
“Because you are the first successful bridge between species.”
Lena frowned.
“You want my DNA.”
“No.”
The voice became softer.
“I want your choice.”
Lena looked at Kai.
“What choice?”
The Architect continued:
“Humanity and my creators have repeated the same mistake.”
“They fear what they cannot control.”
“They build walls.”
“They destroy what they fear.”
“You did something different.”
Lena whispered,
“What?”
“You connected two worlds.”
The Architect showed images of Earth.
Humans.
Aliens.
Children playing together.
Then it showed the stars.
Thousands of planets.
Millions of civilizations.
“The galaxy is approaching a war.”
Kai stepped forward.
“Between who?”
The Architect answered:
“Everyone.”

Lena looked at Kai.

Kai stepped beside her.
“Then we’re both helping.”

Then the entire city began glowing.
“THE AGE OF THE STARBRIDGE BEGINS.”
One year later, Earth had become the center of a new alliance.

The first interstellar station was built above Earth.
Its name was Starbridge One.
Lena stood on its observation deck.

“Do you ever miss the old days?”
Kai laughed.
“You mean when we thought Earth was dead and almost got killed every day?”
“Yes.”
“No.”
She smiled.
“Me neither.”
He took her hand.
“You know, when I first met you, I thought you were trouble.”
“And now?”
“Now I know.”
“What?”
“You are the biggest adventure of my life.”
She leaned against him.
“I’ll take that.”
The ship’s engines activated.

Lena looked at Kai.
