The sky above Earth had turned white.

Then the alien spacecraft appeared through the clouds.

Every Astra City stopped moving.

Every screen on Earth displayed the same strange symbol.

Lena stood inside the Eclipse Core, staring upward.

“They’re here.”

Kai stood beside her.

“Yes.”

Commander Voss looked terrified.

“What do they want?”

Lena touched the blue light beneath her skin.

“I think they want me.”

Voss shook his head.

“Then we can’t let them take you.”

Lena looked at him.

“Why?”

“Because if they take you, we lose control of the Eclipse Engine.”

Kai stepped forward.

“Maybe that’s exactly what should happen.”

Voss glared at him.

“You don’t understand what you’re saying.”

“I understand enough.”

“You’ll destroy humanity.”

Kai shook his head.

“No.”

He pointed toward the screens.

“You already did.”

A woman’s face appeared.

She looked almost human.

Silver hair.

“Your father saved you from us.”

“Why?”

“What happened?”

“We destroyed our planet.”

Lena stared.

“We became too advanced.”

Her mother’s voice became sad.

“We created machines that could control weather, energy, memory, and life.”

Lena looked at the Eclipse Core.

“The same technology.”

“Yes.”

“Then why did you send me away?”

“Because we knew what we had become.”

Her mother paused.

“You were the last child born naturally on our world.”

Lena’s eyes filled with tears.

“Why me?”

“Because your body could connect with the ancient technology.”

“The Eclipse Engine.”

“Yes.”

Lena looked at Kai.

Her mother continued.

“The engine was never designed to destroy Earth.”

“Then what does it do?”

“It gives a dying planet a second chance.”

Lena looked at the Earth below.

“The Astra Cities are draining it.”

“Yes.”

“And if the engine activates?”

“It will restore Earth’s atmosphere.”

“Then why are the cities fighting it?”

“Because the people controlling them don’t want to lose their power.”

Commander Voss stepped forward.

“You expect us to trust aliens?”

Lena turned.

“They aren’t asking you to trust them.”

She looked at the screen.

“They’re asking me.”

Voss raised his weapon.

Kai immediately stepped between them.

“Don’t.”

Voss looked at him.

“You don’t know what she is.”

Kai looked at Lena.

“I know exactly who she is.”

Lena smiled.

Her mother spoke quickly.

“Lena, you must choose.”

“Choose what?”

“Earth or the stars.”

Lena stared at the screen.

“What happens if I choose Earth?”

“You remain here.”

“And if I choose you?”

“You leave with us.”

Kai looked at her.

“Don’t decide because of me.”

Lena turned toward him.

“What if I don’t want to lose you?”

He smiled sadly.

“Then don’t.”

“What?”

“Choose what you want.”

Lena looked at the Earth below.

Millions of lights.

Millions of lives.

This world had raised her.

But somewhere beyond the stars was another world.

Her real home.

Her mother.

Her past.

She whispered,

“I can’t choose between them.”

Her mother smiled.

“You don’t have to.”

Lena looked up.

“What do you mean?”

“The Eclipse Engine can connect both worlds.”

Kai’s eyes widened.

“How?”

“With Lena.”

Lena stepped backward.

“What will it do to me?”

Her mother didn’t answer immediately.

“You will become the bridge.”

“Between Earth and your world?”

“Yes.”

“And the cost?”

Lena understood.

“What will happen to me?”

Her mother looked away.

“You may not survive.”

Kai immediately shook his head.

“No.”

Lena looked at him.

“Kai—”

“No.”

He grabbed her hand.

“There has to be another way.”

Her father appeared on another screen.

“There is.”

Everyone looked at him.

He continued.

“The Eclipse Engine doesn’t need to consume Lena.”

“Then what?”

“It needs her permission.”

Lena stared.

“Permission?”

Her father nodded.

“That’s why the machine was built around your DNA.”

Voss shouted,

“Then stop the activation!”

Her father looked at him.

“It’s already too late.”

The machine reached:

The entire Earth shook.

Astra Cities began descending.

People screamed.

Buildings moved through the clouds.

The alien ship opened.

A beam of white light reached the ground.

Lena looked at Kai.

“I’m scared.”

He held her hand.

“So am I.”

“What if I don’t come back?”

He smiled.

“Then I’ll find you.”

“Where?”

“Anywhere.”

She laughed through her tears.

“You really are impossible.”

“Probably.”

She stepped toward the Eclipse Core.

The blue light surrounded her.

Her feet lifted from the ground.

Kai reached for her.

She held his hand until the last possible second.

Then she whispered,

“I love you.”

His eyes filled with tears.

“I love you too.”

Their hands separated.

Lena floated into the center of the machine.

The alien symbol appeared around her.

The Earth glowed beneath them.

Then the stars appeared.

The machine spoke.

Lena closed her eyes.

The alien ship stopped moving.

The clouds disappeared.

Across Earth, dead forests began turning green.

The atmosphere changed.

But Lena was gone.

“Kai.”

He froze.

Kai ran toward her.

He pulled her into his arms.

“I knew you’d come back.”

She laughed.

“I told you.”

“You didn’t.”

“I was hoping.”

He held her tighter.

Above them, the alien ship remained in the sky.

Her mother appeared on the screen.

“You have saved both worlds.”

Lena smiled.

“Does that mean I’m stuck here?”

Her mother laughed.

“No.”

She looked toward the stars.

“You can visit us whenever you want.”

Kai looked at Lena.

“Whenever?”

Lena smiled.

“Looks like we have a lot of traveling to do.”

They walked outside.

For the first time, humans and aliens stood beneath the same sky.

And Lena realized something.

She had spent her entire life looking upward.

Searching for a home among the stars.

But now she understood.

Home wasn’t a planet.

It wasn’t a city.

It wasn’t even a place.

Home was wherever the people she loved were waiting for her.

Kai took her hand.

Above them, the stars began to shine brighter.

And somewhere beyond the galaxy, another signal appeared.

Lena looked toward the sky.

“What now?”

Kai smiled.

“Another adventure?”

She laughed.

“Of course.”
